[Notes and Ideas] Top tips for budding photographers

It can be difficult to demarcate clearly between good and bad photographer, but in my opinion an image reveals the photographer's experience. The greater your emotions are, the more impressive your pictures are. To achieve greatness, we have to fall in love with our subject. Like for lovers, we should know each other well enough before getting married.

1 Buy books, not heavy and bulky gear
You cannot become a writer if you are not a great reader.
Education is the most important moment of the photographic journey. By looking at the work of the masters, we are able to improve our own pictures.

2 Learn to use your mind before your lens
Imagination is more important than knowledge.

The right process in order to take good pictures is: take time, look closely, change perspective, look again, change position, change composition, consider the light and at the end - if you are not satisfied run away without taking pictures! This method is a wonderful exercise to think (imagine) about what is going on in the viewfinder before pressing the shutter.

3 Take your camera with you everywhere
Bringing a camera with us everywhere, we learn to shoot less and, by making mistakes, to take only great pictures. We have to consider our camera like our third hand.

4 Take your Me time
Me time is the expression that I prefer to use talking about photography. Every shooting session is like having a meeting with ourselves where we are obliged to reflect, we are forced to be introspective, where the camera disappears leaving space to our soul.

5 Be present in your vital space
Only when we are mentally alone with our camera we become more present in our environment.

6 Be patient and wait for the right moment
You can make a better life / You're just waiting for the right moment / You can find another way / You're just waiting for the right moment.
The photography is to Life as perfect photographs are to newborns. Just wait for it, please do not be content with tons of boring or annoying snaps. Before taking it, just wait for the right moment. Sometimes you'll find it changing direction, closing your eyes and following your genius.

7 Do not use the automatic settings
The use of the automatic settings reduces the photographer's control, and leaves our photographs to chance. Giving this routine up, we'll experience new ways to look at photography and so at the world. The results are amazing and we'll be astonished by the uniquely taken images.

8 Ask your friends to pose for you
One of the hard things for budding photographers is to take images of people. Even if we are a people person, we usually get embarrassed shooting pictures of people in front of our camera. At the same time the subject will become unnatural too. A good way to learn how to get in touch with them is to ask our friends to pose for us. The practice will improve this particular skill.

9 Fall in love with your subject every time
An image reveals the photographer's experience. The greater your emotions are, the more impressive your pictures are. To achieve greatness, we have to fall in love with our subject. Like for lovers, we should know each other well enough before getting married.

10 Break the rules you learned
Stay hungry, stay foolish.
Be an avid photographer looking for unseen images. Foolishly follow your instinct and do not worry about respecting the rules. Rules are for buds, now you are going to become a flowering photographer!
